This elegant mountain hotel makes for a cosy base for enjoying the Sierra Nevada, which is emerging as the new fashionable winter sports destination in Southern Spain.
Whether you pack your skis or not, El Lodge makes for an alluring mountain get-away, with unprecedented dining and spa facilities 2,300 metres above sea level. As you walk through the heavy curtains of the welcoming lobby you enter a refined world with a classic mountain chalet aesthetic of ‘antler’ chandeliers and vintage ski memorabilia.
Decorated by the Andrew Martin decoration studio, the playful, elegant Nordic decor embraces guests, with both contemporary and nostalgic elements, that harmonises the property with its beautiful mountain surroundings.
El Lodge is undoubtedly the most elegant hideaway in the Sierra Nevada.
Après Ski
After an exhilarating day on the slopes, it’s time to reward yourself with the most sophisticated après ski in Sierra Nevada. The Sun Deck, with direct access to the slopes from its terrace, is the place where you can enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with live DJs, and an attentive staff.
Maybe lunch between runs or enjoy a well-deserved rest, embraced by faux furs, and warmed by terrace heaters. Indulge with a classic raclette and creamy fondue or go all-out with a house gourmet burger from the Grill.
Once the sun has set it’s time to head to the Lounge or Bar, continuing the après-skin good-times with an aperitif, relishing the warmth of the fireplace.
Sierra spa
Yet the real beauty of this mountain retreat is that even if you’re not a winter sports enthusiast, there is joy to be had. El Lodge has an intimate, sophisticated spa for those looking to rejuvenate in the crisp, clean mountain air. There are signature treatments for guests looking to care for their skin after winter sun exposure with a moisturising treatment or a post-ski massage. The treatment menu includes all kinds of rituals, massages and treatments, a perfect plan for those who decide to swap the ski slopes for a session of luxe pampering.
And for those who prefer to simply enjoy a relaxing moment, they can savour the outdoor heated swimming pool, the only one in the entire Sierra Nevada.
Mountain dining
For signature dining, it has to be the Grill, a homage to the exceptional ambiance of Marbella Club, but here, with a unique mountain vibe. This is the place for delectable Riofrío caviar, the only organic caviar in the world, produced locally in the province, as well as local game, Nordic style stews, and market fresh fish from the nearby coast.
Then head to your room, where tactile textures of leather and faux fur are combined with darker tones of wooden furniture, together with fun details such as retro posters, creating a cosy atmosphere of a luxury winter retreat designed to be enjoyed with family or as a couple.
Guests can choose between 9 rooms and 12 suites, as well as a charming cottage. Most rooms have a jacuzzi, or alternatively, direct access to the heated outdoor swimming pool, set amongst snow-dusted pines. Each is flooded with the brilliant Andalusian light, and many have impressive views of the Sierra.
